Repair Process Steps

At Don Jacobs Paint & Body, our painters and technicians use only industry approved paint and unibody equipment to provide you with the finest workmanship and quality at a fair price. Our staff will work closely with you to ensure your complete satisfaction.

The repair process is outlined below. Please note: all steps may not apply to your repair.

  1. The estimate is written.
  2. Insurance arrangements are made.
  3. The vehicle is scheduled for repair.
  4. Parts are ordered, delivered and inspected.
  5. Vehicle is dropped off and repair authorization is signed.
  6. The job is assigned and dispatched to a technician.
  7. The vehicle is disassembled and re-evaluated.
  8. The supplement report is written.
  9. The insurance company is contacted for re-inspection.
  10. The supplemental report is approved.
  11. Additional parts are ordered.
  12. A revised completion date is provided to customer.
  13. New parts are given to paint team for "cut-in."
  14. Vehicle set up on unibody equipment.
  15. Structural and body repairs completed.
  16. Vehicle transferred to paint shop for structural "cut-in."
  17. Vehicle given back to metal shop to hang exterior sheet metal.
  18. Priming, sealing and corrosion protection applied.
  19. Vehicle is sanded, taped, bagged, cleaned and prepped for painting.
  20. Vehicle is placed in a pressurized, down-draft spray booth oven.
  21. Painter begins a multi-step refinishing process.
  22. Re-assembly and wheel alignment completed.
  23. Air conditioning recharge, fluids added and final inspection.
  24. Test drive, detail and repairs completed.
  25. Customer notified with confirmation for pick-up.
